Beneteau Launches the Beneteau Fishing Trophy: An International, Digital No-Kill Competition

Beneteau has introduced the Beneteau Fishing Trophy, a new international and digitized competition designed for saltwater anglers everywhere. The Trophy makes it easy for fishermen and women to join a global, community-driven event: participants document their catches with their smartphones, share images and stories, and compete for recognition and prizes — all while following strict no-kill rules that prioritize fish conservation.

How to Enter

Entry is straightforward. Anglers should download the Fish&You smartphone app, register for the Beneteau Fishing Trophy within the app, and then submit photos of their best catches to the Beneteau Fishing Facebook group. The group already counts more than 1,000 members taking part in the competition. Participants can decide whether to disclose their fishing locations or to keep those spots private for conservation or personal reasons.

Three Stages of Competition

The Trophy is organized in three consecutive stages, each with its own focus and eligibility requirements:

  • Stage 1 (June 13 – July 17): Open to all saltwater anglers, whether or not they own a Beneteau boat. Each participant may submit up to five fish, all of which must meet legal size regulations. The five largest qualifying fish will be counted toward a participant’s score.
  • Stage 2 (July 20 – August 21): Also open to everyone under the same rules: a quota of five legally sized fish and ranking based on the five largest catches. Winners will receive awards provided by Beneteau, Garmin and Seanox.
  • Stage 3 (August 24 – September 30): Reserved exclusively for owners of Beneteau sail and powerboats. This final stage is a themed photo competition centered on fishing. A panel of judges will evaluate entries based on composition, originality and aesthetic quality.

No-Kill Policy and Conservation

A critical requirement of the Beneteau Fishing Trophy is that it is strictly a no-kill competition. All catches entered into the contest must be released unharmed after being photographed. This ensures that the event supports sustainable angling practices and contributes to the protection of marine resources. Participants are expected to handle fish responsibly, use appropriate gear for catch-and-release, and observe local regulations and size limits.

Prizes and Recognition

Prizes for the first two stages come from Beneteau and partner brands such as Garmin and Seanox. Awards recognize anglers for the size of their catches and, in the photo stage, for creative and technically strong imagery. Beyond physical prizes, the Trophy offers community recognition through the Beneteau Fishing group, exposure to a global angling audience, and opportunities to share techniques, locations, and conservation tips with fellow anglers.

Tips for Participants

To increase the chances of success and to ensure safe handling of fish, anglers should follow a few simple guidelines:

  • Make sure every fish meets legal size requirements before photographing and releasing it.
  • Use quick, careful handling to minimize time out of water; keep the fish wet and supported while taking photos.
  • Frame images with good light and a steady hand; for the photo stage, focus on composition and originality to appeal to the judges.
  • Keep accurate records via the Fish&You app to track submissions and stay informed about stage deadlines and contest updates.
