Trawlerfest Joins the 2022 Anacortes Boat & Yacht Show, May 17–21

Passagemaker magazine’s Trawlerfest will be a featured partner of the 2022 Anacortes Boat & Yacht Show, taking place May 17–21 in Anacortes, Washington. The collaboration brings together a long-running cruising-focused educational series and one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier destination boat events, creating a fuller experience for boat buyers, owners, and cruising enthusiasts.
The combined show will occupy Cap Sante Marina and neighboring boatyards, offering both in-water and on-land displays with hundreds of vessels representing a wide range of styles and sizes. In addition to the dockside boat presentations, the event will include shoreside exhibits featuring trailerable boats, marine accessories, electronics, destination booths, and a variety of service providers. The layout is designed so visitors can walk easily between marina displays and nearby seminar locations.
Trawlerfest adds a strong educational component to the Anacortes program. Known for its seminars and hands-on classes tailored to long-range cruisers and trawler owners, Trawlerfest will host a schedule of presentations and demonstrations at convenient, walkable venues adjacent to the main show. These sessions are intended to inform and inspire boaters at every stage—whether planning a cruise, upgrading systems, or seeking new destinations and equipment.
Owned and operated by Active Interest Media (AIM), Trawlerfest is part of a family of marine titles and events that includes Passagemaker and Soundings. AIM produces consumer and trade events, digital media, films, and television programs. Trawlerfest exists as AIM and Passagemaker’s stand-alone series of shows and educational gatherings for cruising enthusiasts, and it appears in select locations around the country to connect experienced cruisers, prospective buyers, and marine professionals.
“We’re thrilled to join forces with the NMTA and the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce to have Trawlerfest return to the premiere cruising destination of Anacortes,” said Gary DeSanctis, President of AIM Marine Group. “There couldn’t be a better setting to bring our education and community together in an intimate, rendezvous atmosphere and we look forward to bringing our first-class education and demonstrations experience to this fantastic boating event.”
Event organizers from the Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA) also welcomed the addition. NMTA Boat Show Director Katie McPhail commented on the strong momentum following recent in-person events and noted that integrating Trawlerfest will support continued growth of the Anacortes show. Anacortes Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Jesica Kiser added that the partnership expands the show’s appeal, bringing more visiting boaters to the area and enhancing overall show quality.
Attendees can expect a typical Trawlerfest mix of classroom-style seminars, practical demonstrations, and opportunities to speak directly with builders, systems specialists, electronics experts, and destination representatives. Shoreside vendors will showcase equipment and services focused on cruising safety, comfort, and long-term voyaging, while dockside displays let visitors tour boats and compare layouts, gear, and construction firsthand.
The setting at Cap Sante Marina, with its neighboring boatyards and pedestrian-friendly venue arrangement, makes the show convenient for both local boaters and those traveling to the region. The combined event is positioned to serve a broad audience: new boat shoppers, experienced cruisers planning extended trips, industry professionals, and marine service providers looking to connect with customers in person.

The partnership between Trawlerfest and the Anacortes show highlights a continued trend toward richer, education-focused boat events that combine hands-on demonstrations, expert-led instruction, and comprehensive boat displays to help attendees make informed decisions for their cruising and boating lifestyles.
