Zodiac X10CC Reinvents Center Console Design

Zodiac-Nautic X10CC: A New 33-Foot Center Console That Blends RIB and Rigid-Boat Benefits

Zodiac X10CC center console RIB

Zodiac-Nautic is introducing what it describes as a new class of boat: a 33-foot center console that combines features of rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) with those of traditional rigid-hulled center consoles. Branded as the X10CC, this model is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. in January 2025. Zodiac says the design aims to preserve the buoyancy, light weight and impact protection of a RIB while delivering the safety, comfort and usable interior space more commonly associated with rigid boats.

Hybrid Hull and Tube Design

The X10CC uses a distinctive D-shaped tube mounted on the outside of the hull. According to Zodiac, this configuration enables certification as a RIB and allows a substantially larger passenger capacity—up to 20 people—than a comparable rigid-hull center console, which the company says would typically be rated for about 10 people. Beyond capacity, the D-shaped tube serves multiple roles: it adds buoyancy, improves contact protection when docking or rafting alongside other vessels, and contributes to greater initial stability compared with a comparable rigid center console without tubes.

Unlike conventional round inflatable tubes that can encroach on interior space and reduce freeboard, the X10CC pairs its D-shaped tube with high fiberglass bulwarks. This combination maintains higher freeboard for comfort and safety while retaining the flotation and lower weight benefits that inflatable tubes provide. Because the D-shaped profile occupies less internal volume than a traditional round tube, Zodiac says the arrangement frees up more usable space around the center console, cabin and seating areas.

Hull Efficiency and Performance

Fuel efficiency was a clear target in the X10CC’s design. Zodiac incorporated a stepped hull intended to lower drag and reduce fuel consumption. The company reports the stepped hull can cut fuel use by up to 30 percent compared with a conventional V-hull of similar size. For propulsion the X10CC relies on twin outboards. In sea trials using twin 400-hp engines, the boat reached a top speed of 60 knots with seven people aboard. The platform is rated for maximum power with twin 450-hp outboards.

Accommodation and Deck Layout

The X10CC includes an enclosed cabin area forward with a double bunk and a separate head, providing overnight capability and protected accommodation. Seating and lounge areas are arranged both forward and aft to maximize social and leisure use. Zodiac notes the forward and aft lounges offer seating for up to 13 people and can be converted easily into sundecks for relaxation and sunbathing. A compact galley is positioned aft of the helm, set into the bolster for convenient food preparation and entertaining while underway.

Equipment, Options and Practical Features

Standard equipment is aimed at practical cruising and easy handling; an electric windlass is part of the base specification. Zodiac also offers a long list of optional equipment so buyers can tailor the boat to their intended use—options include shade solutions such as Bimini tops among other customizations. The D-tube and robust hull structure are intended to make the X10CC suitable for a variety of activities, from family cruising and day trips to more demanding coastal or offshore use where extra impact protection and buoyancy are advantageous.

Market Position and Intended Benefits

With the X10CC, Zodiac is positioning a hybrid solution that seeks to minimize common drawbacks of traditional RIBs—like cramped interiors and low freeboard—while preserving several of their key attributes, notably light weight, buoyancy and protective tubes. The result is a center console that aims to deliver higher carrying capacity, greater onboard comfort and improved fuel economy compared with conventional rigid center consoles in the same size class.

Availability in the U.S. is planned for January 2025. Zodiac-Nautic promotes the X10CC as an alternative for buyers who want the performance and economy of a RIB but also value the livability and safety features of a rigid center-console layout.
