Deltaville Waterfront Home on Jackson Creek — 123 Feet of Bulkheaded Shoreline
The boating lifestyle drew Bobby and Bonnie Weis to Deltaville, Virginia, the self-proclaimed “Boating Capital of the Chesapeake.” In 2006 they built a comfortable, well-appointed three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home on Jackson Creek that embraces waterfront living and entertaining. Now, preparing to relocate to Cape Coral, Florida, they have listed their 0.36-acre property for $895,000.

The property offers 123 feet of bulkheaded waterfront, an attached two-car garage, an outbuilding shed and a 50-foot dock. The dock includes three slips, a 10,000-pound boat lift and two personal watercraft lifts, with approximately 5 feet of depth at mean low water — ample for the Weises’ 22-foot Hurricane and other small craft. The lot slopes gently to the water, making the dock easily accessible from the main deck and lawn.
“My grandfather bought this property in 1948, and I’ve been coming here all my life,” says Bobby Weis, 65, a Virginia Air National Guard retiree. The couple replaced an older cottage with their current residence, adding thoughtful conveniences for everyday waterfront use — from an outside shower to hot water at hose connections for rinsing gear and pets.
The two-story house presents a traditional exterior of blue vinyl siding, white trim and a shingle roof. Inside, the great room is a striking focal point: 17-foot cathedral cypress ceilings with gables and exposed beams rise above window walls that frame views of Jackson Creek, a local hurricane hole and popular snowbird anchorage. A glass, double-sided gas fireplace separates the great room from the adjoining waterfront “Florida” room, which the owners use as their primary dining area. Glass doors open to the waterfront deck where a 20-foot automatic Sunsetter awning provides shade.
The kitchen opens to the great room and features a granite-topped island/dining bar, custom maple cabinetry and stainless-steel appliances, including a six-burner gas cooktop. Bonnie, 61, who recently retired from the Washington D.C. Air National Guard, says the roomy kitchen suits her love of cooking and hosting. Nearby, a dedicated maple mini-office and a wet bar with an icemaker balance practical work and entertaining needs. A pantry, den, laundry room and a half-bath are located just off the hall to the garage for convenient daily living.

The home’s two master suites occupy separate wings, each designed for privacy and comfort. Both suites feature cathedral ceilings, walk-in closets and en-suite baths finished with marble counters, a makeup table and tiled showers. High windows deliver natural light without the need for coverings, and each master has a private waterfront deck that connects to the main deck and views of the creek.
Upstairs, a carpeted loft bedroom and full bath overlook the great room and the water, offering additional sleeping space or a quiet retreat for reading and relaxing. The house also includes a basement crawl space, a whole-house generator, a heat pump, a water treatment system, and a private well and septic system. Annual property taxes are approximately $2,300.
Life on Jackson Creek centers on boating, fishing and outdoor gatherings. The Weises regularly fish from their dock, harvest blue crabs and host friends for sunsets and crab feasts. Proximity to the mouth of the Piankatank River means the Chesapeake Bay is only minutes away, making short runs to restaurants, sandbars and other waterways part of their routine boating lifestyle.
