The 450 Sundancer is Sea Ray’s third model in its next-generation coupe-style sport yacht lineup. Compared with the earlier 450 introduced in 2009, this new 450 is a foot longer and noticeably beamier, giving it greater interior volume and a more comfortable, livable layout.

“With today’s boaters, it’s all about interior volume and space that’s comfortable and controllable,” says Ron Berman, Sea Ray vice president of product portfolio. “This is a new-from-the-keel-up boat and much different than the previous 450, having the ability to be completely enclosed or open.” That dual nature—an enclosed deckhouse that can feel like an open express-style cockpit when desired—is central to the 450 Sundancer’s appeal.
The transition from an express layout to a coupe required a number of design changes. The hardtop and side windows were extended aft, the deckhouse was enclosed with retractable sliding glass doors, and the galley and saloon were moved up to share the helm and companion area. A three-window opening skylight in the hardtop brings in daylight and fresh air, enhancing the sense of openness while maintaining the protection and convenience of a coupe-style sport yacht.
“There’s no canvas to be dealt with,” says Scott Ward, senior vice president and general manager of sport yachts and yachts. “The saloon doors retract, and the cockpit, saloon and galley become one large space. You bring the outside in, and everyone can be together.” This integrated layout creates a single social area that works well for cruising, entertaining or relaxing at anchor. The retractable doors and skylight make it easy to tailor ventilation and sightlines to weather and personal preference.
Below deck the 450 Sundancer focuses on comfortable accommodations for extended cruising. The yacht features a full-beam master stateroom aft with a private head, providing privacy and a roomy retreat. A forward stateroom offers comfortable sleeping quarters with access to a guest head, making the boat suitable for families or overnight guests. Storage and thoughtful interior planning support practical use of the generous interior volume.
On deck, the cockpit includes an L-shaped settee with a table that serves as a dining or lounging area. For owners who want more cooking capability outside, an optional mini galley with a grill, sink and additional storage is available, expanding the yacht’s entertaining options. The hydraulic swim platform lowers into the water for easy access to the sea, water toys and tenders, enhancing the Sundancer’s utility at anchor or during watersports.
Performance comes from twin 550-hp Cummins diesels with V-drive transmissions, delivering a top speed of about 35 mph and a comfortable cruise around 30 mph. The 450 Sundancer can also be equipped with Zeus pod drives as an alternative propulsion option. Joystick steering is available with either V-drives or pod systems, simplifying close-quarters handling, docking and maneuvering for single-handed or less experienced operators.
Pricing reflects the two main propulsion choices: $989,613 when equipped with V-drives and approximately $1.1 million with Zeus pod drives. Sea Ray has signaled that a flybridge version of the 450 Sundancer will be introduced later in the year, offering an option for buyers who prefer an elevated helm and additional outdoor living space.
The 450 Sundancer represents Sea Ray’s effort to blend the protection and convenience of a coupe with an open, social layout and generous interior volume. It is designed to meet the needs of modern boaters who value a single, versatile living area, easy operation, and choices in propulsion and onboard amenities.
