MJM 4z: A New 46’8″ Performance Day-Cruiser with Galley-Up Layout
MJM Yachts has introduced the MJM 4z, a new performance-oriented crossover that blends elements of the MJM 3z Dual Console and the MJM 40z into a single versatile 46 foot, 8 inch platform. Designed to work equally well as an entertaining day yacht and as a capable weekend cruiser, the 4z combines an open, social deck plan with protected indoor spaces and overnight accommodations.
Design and Layout
The 4z’s layout is centered on social versatility. Four distinct social zones—an open bow seating area, an aft cockpit, a protected pilothouse with indoor/outdoor flow, and a raised galley/lounge—allow owners to host groups comfortably while still offering privacy and creature comforts for extended stays aboard. Notably, the 4z marks MJM’s first production model to offer a “galley-up” arrangement; previous MJM models placed the galley down below. Bringing the galley up on deck improves connectivity between cooks and guests and supports a modern, entertaining-focused lifestyle on board.
The indoor/outdoor pilothouse gives the captain and guests protection from sun, wind, and spray while maintaining sightlines and easy movement to the exterior decks. The open bow and aft cockpit provide flexible seating and lounging options for sunning, dining, or socializing when the weather is favorable.

Accommodations
Below deck the MJM 4z provides practical overnight accommodations for cruising. A forward V-berth serves as the primary sleeping area, and a double berth amidships offers additional sleeping capacity. The yacht-sized head includes a glass-enclosed shower, delivering the comfort and privacy expected aboard a capable cruiser while maximizing usable space.
Propulsion and Performance
MJM is offering several propulsion options for the 4z to match different owner priorities. Initially, buyers can choose between triple 300-horsepower Mercury outboards or twin 600-horsepower Mercury Verado outboards. For the 2024 model year, the 4z will also be offered with twin 440-horsepower Volvo DPI sterndrives. MJM advertises a top speed of 50 miles per hour, underscoring the model’s performance ambitions while retaining the versatility expected from a crossover day-cruiser platform.
Practical Numbers and Range
The 4z is dimensioned and equipped to balance seakeeping, speed, and onboard comfort. With an overall length (LOA) of 46 feet, 8 inches and a deck length of 42 feet, 7 inches, the boat carries a 12-foot beam that contributes to stable, comfortable onboard living and wide entertaining spaces. When engines are raised, the draft is a shallow 2 feet, 2 inches, opening up access to shallow anchorages and coastal cruising grounds.
Displacement sits at 17,730 pounds, and fuel capacity is 475 gallons, providing a solid foundation for range and extended excursions. Freshwater capacity is 110 gallons, supporting multiple overnight stays with standard amenities and use of the yacht-sized head.
Who the 4z Is For
The MJM 4z is aimed at owners who want a single boat that can serve as a social, high-performance day yacht and also accommodate overnight cruising without sacrificing comfort. Its galley-up design and multiple social zones appeal to those who entertain frequently, while the protected pilothouse and generous fuel and water capacities make it suitable for weekend getaways and extended days on the water.
