Marex Boats Expands to the United States with Five Models Available in Early 2025
Norwegian boat builder Marex Boats is officially expanding its presence in the United States. During the first five months of 2025, Marex will offer five of its models to U.S. buyers, with local support provided by New Jersey-based Sandy Hook Yacht Sales and Brewer Yacht Sales, serving Connecticut and Rhode Island. This launch introduces a well-established European brand to American waters and aims to fill a notable gap in the market for owner-operated luxury cruisers.
Filling a Market Gap for Owner-Operator Luxury Cruisers
Chris Hughes, president of Marex Boats USA, says this is an ideal moment for the 51-year-old brand to enter the U.S. market. He points out that many boatbuilders have drifted away from producing inboard and POD-drive boats designed for owner-operators. As a result, buyers seeking the level of refinement and layout Marex offers often must look to much larger vessels—typically around 60 feet—which are less suitable for owners who want to handle their boats themselves.
Marex’s current lineup ranges from 31 to 45 feet, a size bracket that supports owner-operated use while delivering luxury, comfort and thoughtful engineering. Hughes also confirms that Marex plans to announce additional, larger models over the next two years, further extending the brand’s reach and options available to U.S. customers.
Models and Boat Show Appearances
U.S. buyers can already place orders for Marex yachts and expect delivery in time for the next boating season. For those who prefer to see the boats in person, Marex will present several models at major U.S. boat shows throughout the year. The 330 Scandinavia and the 360 Cabriolet Cruiser will be on display at the Naples Boat Show in January. In March, the 310 Sun Cruiser, 330 and 360 will appear at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. Later in the year, visitors to the Newport Boat Show will be able to view the full lineup, including the 375 Marex and both variants of the flagship 440.
Design Highlights and Weather Versatility
Marex designs its layouts to perform well across a wide range of climates and cruising grounds—from the Great Lakes and New England to Florida, the Pacific Northwest and California. A standout feature across the fleet is the dual sunroof design, offering open-air versatility fore and aft. Another hallmark is Marex’s smart-enclosure system, available as standard on all yachts. This clever enclosure stows neatly and deploys without snaps, buttons or zippers, creating a clean, weatherproof cockpit space that is easy to close when conditions change.
“If it gets colder or it rains, close it up. It’s so simple,” Hughes explains. The enclosure rides on dedicated tracks so the glass remains protected and in place when not in use, preserving the yacht’s appearance and functionality.
The 440 Scandinavia and Award-Winning Lineup
Marex will reveal its newest model, the 440 Scandinavia, to the public at boot Düsseldorf in January. This version is the second configuration of the company’s 440 flagship. Unlike the earlier 440 Gourmet Cruiser—which features a doubled galley and a central bar module—the 440 Scandinavia emphasizes flexible social spaces with a second C-shaped settee, an additional dining table, two barstools to port, and a galley and two-seat helm to starboard. Both 440 variants are available with either two or three stateroom layouts, offering buyers versatile accommodation choices.
The 440 Gourmet Cruiser has earned recognition in recent years, including the “Best for Family” award at the Best of Boats Award ceremony in Berlin. Marex’s smaller models have also collected honors: the 310, 330 and 360 have together won multiple industry awards. While Hughes values these accolades, he emphasizes that the most meaningful feedback comes from boat owners who continue to choose Marex models season after season.
What This Means for U.S. Boaters
For U.S. boaters looking for refined, owner-friendly cruisers with thoughtful layouts and premium appointments, Marex’s arrival presents a timely option. With dealer representation in the Northeast and a planned presence at major boat shows, prospective buyers will have opportunities to inspect the builds, experience the smart-enclosure solutions, and discuss configurations that suit family cruising and owner-operator lifestyles.
With a history spanning more than five decades, Marex is positioning itself to meet a specific demand in the American market: midsize, inboard/POD-drive yachts that combine modern innovation, comfortable accommodations and ease of ownership.
