X Shore 1 Bowrider: A Family-Focused Electric Day Cruiser
Swedish electric-boat maker X Shore has introduced the X Shore 1 Bowrider, a new variant of its X Shore 1 platform designed specifically as a family-friendly day cruiser. The Bowrider adapts the proven X Shore 1 hull and systems to deliver more forward seating by trading the belowdecks forepeak for an open, usable bow area—creating a flexible layout aimed at social boating, watersports and leisurely day trips.
“Over the past two years, we’ve heard from the market and our network about the growing demand for a family-friendly day cruiser—specifically in a bowrider style—that offers the ideal setup for a range of water-sport activities,” X Shore CEO René Hansen said. “With bowriders making up about 25 to 30 percent of the powerboat market in North America, it was a natural next step to expand the X Shore lineup. This new bowrider, built on the trusted X Shore 1 platform, is our response to that demand, crafted for friends, family and an adventure-filled day on the water.”
The Bowrider retains familiar X Shore traits—clean lines, electric propulsion and careful material choices—while reworking the deck plan for greater social use. Seating is arranged both forward and aft with transom-facing benches and a swim platform for easy water access. The helm is positioned to starboard with a single helm seat and a companion seat to port. Where the X Shore 1 normally has the entrance to a belowdeck area, the Bowrider instead places a compact console that includes a portable fridge and provides storage and utility without sacrificing open deck flow.
To enhance onboard electronics and navigation, the Bowrider integrates Garmin technology into its systems, highlighted by a large 19-inch display for navigation, depth and temperature monitoring. Owners can pair Garmin smartwatches with X Shore’s app to access certain functions remotely, supporting convenient control and connectivity while aboard.
Storage and comfort are practical priorities. Under-seat compartments are designed to stow gear, safety equipment and everyday items out of sight. Retractable sun awnings add shade flexibility, and rotating helm seats improve sightlines and interaction with guests. Optional fill-in cushions transform the open bow from a conversational seating area into a flat sunbed for lounging and sunbathing, making the layout adaptable for varying day-use scenarios.
“Without the enclosed cabin found on the X Shore 1 Open and Top models, the team had to reimagine the space to ensure comfort and usability in the open bow,” Hansen explained. “This involved redesigning the center staircase to create a sleek and seamless entry and exit to the bow, enhancing flow and accessibility.” The result is an airy deck with a welcoming approach to the bow area, intended to make boarding and moving around the boat straightforward for families and groups.
Construction follows X Shore’s focus on high-quality, performance-oriented composites. The company employs precision prepreg techniques and combines glass fiber and carbon fiber in its hull builds. In line with X Shore’s sustainability goals, the builder uses cork decking instead of teak—an environmentally friendlier alternative that still provides grip and a premium appearance.
“Our mission is to make boating one with nature by advancing sustainable performance, seamless technology and functional design,” Hansen said. “The Bowrider meets the growing demand for recreation, high performance and sustainability, setting new standards in electric boating.” The Bowrider is presented as the fourth model in X Shore’s lineup, expanding the brand’s offerings aimed at different boating styles while maintaining a focus on electric propulsion and responsible materials.
