Greenline 45 Fly: A New Hybrid Flybridge Yacht from the Slovenian Builder

Seaway, the Slovenian shipyard known for its hybrid yachts ranging from 33 to 65 feet, is introducing a new flybridge model: the Greenline 45 Fly. Scheduled to make its public debut at the Miami International Boat Show in February, the 45 Fly expands Greenline’s flybridge lineup alongside the established 48 and 65 models.

What sets the Greenline 45 Fly apart is its combined diesel-electric propulsion system that prioritizes efficiency, quiet operation and reduced emissions. The yacht is equipped with a twin-diesel installation—two Volvo Penta D3 engines rated at 220 hp each—that drive conventional shafts and propellers for high-speed performance. Integrated into those shafts are inline, clutched electric motors that enable electric-only propulsion when desired. This hybrid configuration allows owners to cruise silently under electric power, use diesel power when higher speeds are required, and recharge the lithium-ion battery bank through multiple sources.

The lithium-ion batteries aboard the 45 Fly can be recharged when connected to shore power, by the onboard diesel generators during hybrid operation, or via solar panels mounted on the topside. Under electric power alone, the yacht achieves a top speed of approximately 6 knots and is optimized for economical cruising at about 4 knots. At that speed the electric-only range is estimated to be between 15 and 20 nautical miles. When both Volvo Penta diesels are engaged, the Greenline 45 Fly reaches a top speed of roughly 25 knots.

Design and Layout

The exterior styling of the 45 Fly features a hard-edged, sporty profile developed by J&J Design in Slovenia, giving the boat a modern and determined look suitable for both coastal cruising and extended passages. The interior was designed by Marco Casali of Too Design in Italy, whose layout emphasizes comfort and functional use of space for owners and guests.

Accommodations include a forward guest stateroom with an island queen-size berth in the bow and an amidships master stateroom that features an island king berth. Both staterooms have ensuite heads complete with enclosed showers, offering privacy and convenience for overnight or extended trips. The floorplan balances social spaces and private cabins to suit family cruising or entertaining.

Deck and Flybridge Features

On deck, the 45 Fly’s cockpit is practical and well-appointed, with a teak swim platform that makes water access easy and comfortable. A transom grill adds convenience for alfresco dining and socializing while at anchor. The flybridge provides additional lifestyle space, with room for lounge seating, cooking facilities and a secondary helm station for elevated visibility and comfortable navigation in pleasant weather.

Market Position and Pricing

The Greenline 45 Fly is positioned as an efficient, eco-conscious flybridge yacht that appeals to owners who want the flexibility of diesel power and the quiet, low-emission benefits of electric propulsion. With a reported base price of $575,000, the 45 Fly aims to offer a competitive package in the hybrid yacht segment, combining modern design, practical layout and hybrid technology.
