Valhalla Boatworks Introduces the V-55 Sport (SP): A Luxury Cruise Version of a High-Performance Hull

Valhalla Boatworks is expanding its reputation for high-performance fishing vessels with a new luxury cruise model: the V-55 Sport (SP). Built on the proven Valhalla 55 hull and featuring a stepped bottom developed by Michael Peters Yacht Design, the V-55 SP blends sportboat performance with upscale accommodations and contemporary styling aimed at owners who want both speed and comfort.

Design and Layout

The V-55 Sport presents a low-profile bow rail and an intentional asymmetry in the side-decks to maximize usable interior space. The starboard side deck is raised while the port side walkway remains level with the deck, creating a thoughtful circulation path to the foredeck. Forward on the bow, the layout offers a three-person sunpad and a lounge area with a table—an ideal spot for relaxing underway or at anchor.

On deck, the cockpit is configured for socializing and dining, featuring a dedicated dining area with two benches and a table. The galley sits just forward to starboard, providing convenient access to the cockpit dining area and enabling easy serving and entertaining. The overall deck plan emphasizes livability and flow, making the V-55 SP suitable for extended cruising, weekend getaways, and entertaining friends and family.

Innovative Features and Exterior Amenities

A standout feature of the V-55 SP is the hydraulically powered, fold-down balcony on both sides of the yacht. Each balcony contributes roughly 25 square feet of additional deck area and provides direct water access, expanding the usable outdoor space and enhancing the vessel’s connection to the sea. These balconies, combined with the foredeck lounge, create multiple outdoor living zones for sunbathing, alfresco dining, and easy boarding from a tender or dock.

Accommodations and Interior Comfort

Below decks, the V-55 Sport is arranged for comfortable cruising with two well-appointed staterooms, each fitted with queen beds. The forward stateroom includes an ensuite head with a separate shower, offering privacy and convenience for owners and guests. An additional day head with shower is located forward of the amidships guest stateroom, providing a practical layout for multiple guests and extended stays aboard.

Performance and Propulsion

Under power, the V-55 SP is propelled by quad Mercury 600-hp V12 outboards, a powerful and modern propulsion package that combines high speed potential with redundancy and marine-grade engineering. Paired with the stepped bottom hull by Michael Peters Yacht Design, the setup is intended to deliver confident performance, efficient planing characteristics, and an engaging ride—qualities Valhalla owners expect from the brand’s performance-oriented boats.

Valhalla has positioned the V-55 SP as a versatile platform that brings cruiser-style amenities to a hull with proven performance credentials. As Valhalla President and CEO Pat Healey noted, “The V-55 Sport represents our ability to diversify within a model to meet the needs of more owners. It takes the proven performance of our 55 hull and merges it with an exciting, contemporary design that the cruising crowd will love.”
