Vintage 43: Designed in Maine, Built in Florida

The Vintage 43 is the result of a collaboration between Belfast, Maine–based Stephens Waring Yacht Design and Sarasota, Florida boatbuilder Rivolta Yachts. Stephens Waring, noted for designs that marry classic, timeless lines with modern high performance, worked with Rivolta to create an elegant daysailer that is easy to handle while offering comfortable accommodations for short cruises and overnight stays.

Vintage 43 daysailer

Conceived as a well-appointed daysailer, the Vintage 43 emphasizes graceful sailing behavior, practical deck layout and a refined interior. The design team focused on blending traditional aesthetic cues with contemporary materials and construction techniques to achieve a boat that looks classic yet performs confidently under sail. The result is a yacht intended to reward owners with simple, enjoyable sail handling, ample lounging space and the option for comfortable overnighting without the complexity of a larger cruiser.

“Piero Rivolta selected Stephens Waring Yacht Design for our profound understanding of the challenges and rewards in combining traditional beauty with modern materials and performance,” says Robert Stephens, one half of the Stephens Waring partnership. “The Vintage 43 will reward her owners with easy, graceful sailing and comfortable lounging and overnighting possibilities and, of course, admiring glances from fellow sailors.”

Rivolta Yachts planned the launch of the Rivolta 43 Vintage in January. The collaboration highlights both firms’ dedication to craftsmanship and design integrity, targeting owners who appreciate classic style paired with contemporary functionality. The Vintage 43 is positioned as an ideal option for those seeking an elegant, manageable yacht for day sailing, coastal cruising and relaxed weekends on the water.

A&C Concept Store Brings Water and Mountain Performance Apparel Together

In downtown Marblehead, Massachusetts, Atlantis WeatherGear and Cloudveil have launched a joint A&C concept store that showcases both brands under one roof. Atlantis WeatherGear focuses on technical boating apparel, while Cloudveil specializes in mountain-oriented outerwear; together, the two brands aim to serve customers who spend summers on the water and winters in the mountains.

The concept store emphasizes the complementary nature of the product lines: technical fabrics, athlete-driven design philosophies and performance-oriented details that appeal to active outdoor enthusiasts. “Cloudveil is the perfect complement to the Atlantis range since most sailors tend to spend the colder months on snow,” said Atlantis CMO Bill Lynn. “Both brands are born from a similar ‘by athletes for athletes’ approach to technical apparel design, and they share a similar focus on performance and quality.”

A&C’s Marblehead location is intended to attract customers seeking specialized gear for both boating and alpine activities, offering a curated selection that addresses year-round outdoor lifestyles. For more information about Atlantis WeatherGear or Cloudveil product lines, contact the Marblehead store directly by phone at (781) 639-0108.

OpSail2012CT to Stop in Connecticut with Tall Ships and Maritime Celebrations

New London, Connecticut will host a stop on the OpSail festival route as part of OpSail2012CT, a four-day maritime celebration scheduled for July 6–9. Governor Dannel P. Malloy will serve as honorary chairman of the Connecticut event, which is part of a national commemoration marking the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the writing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The festival will draw tall ships and sail-training vessels from around the world, offering a parade of sail, ship tours, fireworks and other public festivities. Organizers reported commitments from training ships representing seven countries: Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, France, Mexico, Spain and Russia. New London and neighboring Groton, positioned on opposite sides of the Thames River mouth, will host the visiting vessels.

A welcoming event is planned in East Lyme on the evening of July 6, when the tall ships will anchor in Niantic Bay before participating in a parade of sail to the Thames River the following day. The parade will be led by the U.S. Coast Guard barque Eagle and will provide an opportunity for the public to view these historic and sail-training vessels under way.
