Axopar 29: Redesigned Successor to the Axopar 28
Axopar has introduced the Axopar 29 as the next step in the line that began with the popular Axopar 28. At 29 feet overall with a 9-foot 8-inch beam, the Axopar 29 builds on the 28’s concept while introducing a redesigned hull and several practical refinements. The most significant change is the new hull form: a twin-stepped, 22-degree V “sharp entry” with a higher bow and increased flair. According to the builder, this hull shape offers a smoother, more controlled ride in rough water. In addition, the 29 features wider walkaround side decks for easier movement around the boat.

Two Model Choices: Cross Cabin (XC) and Sun Top (ST)
The Axopar 29 is offered in two principal configurations: the Cross Cabin (XC) and the Sun Top (ST). Both versions incorporate a sliding canvas roof inspired by the Axopar 37 Sun Top. The sliding roof can be opened manually or by an electric mechanism, allowing owners to enjoy an open cockpit and direct sunlight or to close the cabin for protection from weather.
Both models emphasize flexibility and social space. The bow area is designed to seat up to eight people and can be fitted with an optional U-shaped sofa extension that converts the bow into an O-shaped lounge. A stowable table can be raised for meals and lowered to create an extended sunbed, making the bow a multifunctional living area. Beneath the bow there is a versatile cabin space that can be configured as under-deck storage, a head with sink, or a full-length sleeping cabin depending on the owner’s needs.

Cockpit Layout and Practical Details
The Sun Top (ST) cockpit layout centers on convivial seating and adaptable surfaces. It features a U-shaped sofa with a large folding table, and the aft backrest is designed to lock into four different positions to support multiple seating or lounging arrangements. An additional table aft can also be raised for dining or lowered to create a sunbathing surface. Storage solutions have been upgraded over the 28: the aft fender boxes are larger, and the side fender box on the 29 can be outfitted as a top-loading refrigerator, a practical detail that enhances day-cruising comfort.

Performance and Range
The Axopar 29 offers multiple outboard propulsion options to match different use cases. Owners may choose a single outboard in 300-, 350- or 400-hp ratings, or a twin outboard layout using two 200-hp engines. Cruising speed will vary with the chosen powertrain and loading, while top speed is reported to reach 48 knots. With the standard 105-gallon (approximately 400-liter) fuel tank and depending on power and speed, the Axopar 29’s operational range can exceed 200 nautical miles, making it suitable for extended day trips and short offshore runs.
Layout Highlights and Usability
The 29’s design emphasizes versatility for owners who want a boat that performs well underway while offering comfortable, adaptable living spaces when at rest. The wider walkaround decks make moving forward and aft easier, and the modular seating configurations permit quick reconfiguration between socializing, dining, and sunbathing. The multi-use bow cabin adds overnight capability or practical storage for watersports gear and provisioning, improving the boat’s usefulness for both weekend adventures and day cruising.

Axopar Marks a Milestone
Axopar celebrated its 10th anniversary at Boot Düsseldorf in 2024. Founding partner Jan-Erik Viitala reflected on the company’s growth: “I could not have imagined the scale and how far Axopar has developed in only 10 years when we founded the company in 2014. To become the industry leader in a genre created all of its own—adventure boating—is a unique achievement in itself. We’re proud of our worldwide community of Axoparians and we are super excited about the next 10 years ahead of us.”
In summary, the Axopar 29 refines a proven platform with a revised hull for improved seakeeping, wider decks for better ergonomics, and flexible interior and cockpit options. Its range of propulsion choices and practical onboard features make it a versatile option for owners seeking a compact, capable adventure boat that performs both at speed and at anchor.
