Formula Boats Unveils 45′ 7″ 457 Center Console — Sport and Fish Models
Decatur, Indiana builder Formula Boats will expand its center console lineup with two new 457 models: the 457 Sport and the 457 Fish. The new Formula 457 center console will make its public debut at the 2024 Miami International Boat Show, marking the company’s continued return to the center console market after the successful reintroduction of the 387 Center Console last year.
Design and Construction
The Formula 457 combines the builder’s signature styling and quality fit and finish with a layout tailored to both sportfishing and luxury cruising. With an overall length of 45 feet 7 inches and a beam of 13 feet 9 inches, the Formula Boats 457 offers a roomy deck plan and belowdecks accommodations while maintaining the performance and aesthetic expected from the brand.
“Unmistakably a Formula from near or afar, the 457’s bloodline is evident in its looks, performance, amenities, engineering and fit and finish,” says Scott Smith, Formula’s marketing manager. “This model is destined to set itself apart from others in its class, and we cannot wait to show it off.”
Propulsion, Range and Helm Technology
Both the 457 Sport and 457 Fish are powered by triple Mercury 600-hp Verado V12 outboards, giving the center console robust propulsion and acceleration suitable for long-range cruising, fast runs between fishing grounds, and efficient offshore passages. Each 457 holds around 700 gallons of fuel, providing extended range for serious coastal and offshore use.
The helm is equipped with three 22-inch screens to consolidate navigation, engine data and fishfinding systems in one integrated console. A bank of three helm chairs provides comfortable command seating, with a second row of seats directly behind for additional guests. All helm seating and the companion chairs have access to air conditioning, ensuring comfort in warm climates.
Deck Layout and Options: Sport vs. Fish
Formula designed the 457 as a versatile platform with two distinct configurations. Both the 457 Sport and 457 Fish are available with a hardtop, but their key features reflect different owner priorities.
The 457 Fish is optimized for anglers. It can be ordered with an optional upper helm station to aid visibility while searching for fish and to enhance sightlines when running at speed. The Fish cockpit can be fitted with a transom seat that folds away to create an open working deck, and it includes pressurized baitwells and fishing-friendly features. The cockpit galley on the Fish can be configured as a bait station or a practical wetbar to support serious fishing days.
The 457 Sport emphasizes entertaining and comfort. Owners who favor cruising and socializing will appreciate the sculpted aft lounge, larger swim platform and forward seating area that includes an elevated sun lounger and wraparound bow seating. The Sport’s cockpit galley is arranged for onboard entertaining, with flexible layouts that accommodate dining and relaxation.
Accommodations and Belowdecks Comfort
Belowdecks, both the 457 Sport and Fish offer full-featured accommodations with 6 feet 6 inches of headroom. The interior includes a functional galley, a U-shaped lounge with a table that converts to a double berth, and a private enclosed head with a separate shower. These features make the 457 suitable for overnight trips, weekend cruising or extended stays on the water.
Who the Formula 457 Is For
The Formula 457 center console targets owners who want a high-quality boat that blends Formula’s traditional luxury DNA with a practical, modern center console layout. It appeals to sportfishermen seeking a capable offshore platform as well as families and cruisers who want a comfortable, well-appointed boat for entertaining and coastal passagemaking.
Formula’s expansion into larger center consoles with the 457 reflects growing demand for multifunctional boats that do not sacrifice refinement or engineering. With its triple Mercury Verado V12 power, substantial fuel capacity, and dual-purpose Sport and Fish configurations, the 457 positions itself as a competitive option in the 45-foot center console segment.
