Meet the New Grady-White Canyon 386: Specs and Features

Grady-White Canyon 386: Spacious Center Console Built for Fishing and Comfort

North Carolina builder Grady-White introduced the Canyon 386 at the 2023 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Building on the company’s Canyon line that includes the flagship Canyon 456 and the Canyon 376, the Canyon 386 uses a generous 13-foot, 2-inch beam to deliver notably more usable space aboard a 36-foot, 6-inch center console hull.

Design Philosophy: Fishability Meets Refinement

Grady-White product designer Christian Carraway says the Canyon 386 was created with both fishing performance and onboard comfort in mind. The broad beam increases cockpit and helm room, allowing a layout that balances angler-focused features with seating and luxury touches. The result is a rugged, capable fishing platform that still feels refined for family cruising and entertaining.

Easy Boarding and Helm Amenities

Boarding is straightforward thanks to port and starboard side doors and a boarding ladder. At the helm, four seats with flip-up bolsters are standard to provide comfortable vantage points for the captain and crew while fishing or running offshore. The helm assembly includes an integrated AV2 T-top for shelter and a SureShade to extend shade and protection across the console area, contributing to a more comfortable experience on long days offshore.

Angler-Focused Features

The Canyon 386 comes well equipped for serious fishing. A lean bar at the helm is fitted with six rod holders and convenient tool storage, including knife and plier holders. The lean bar also incorporates a countertop, a bait station and sink, plus a trash bin for tidy operations. Twin 35-gallon livewells are standard, positioned for easy access, and the cockpit includes a large 291-quart insulated fish box. The fish box temperature is controllable via a digital thermostat mounted on the transom for precise bait- and catch-preservation.

Owners who prefer more entertainment-oriented amenities can replace the standard bait station with an optional grill and create a dedicated social zone aft. A foldaway bench provides additional seating when needed without compromising fishing space.

Bow Layout and Comfort

The Canyon 386’s bow area is designed for both comfort and practicality. A contoured lounger with three pulldown armrests gives a relaxed seating arrangement and includes two storage drawers beneath for stowing gear. Additional port and starboard lounge seats have electrically adjustable backrests for customizable comfort, and an electrically adjustable fiberglass table can be specified for dining or social use in the bow.

Belowdecks Accommodations

Belowdecks, the Canyon 386 offers thoughtful amenities for overnighting or extended day trips. The private head includes a stand-up shower for convenience after a day on the water. The galley is practical and well-equipped with a stainless-steel sink, a microwave, and a large refrigerator drawer to keep provisions fresh. A cherry dinette table converts into a roomy double berth, providing comfortable sleeping arrangements for two.

Power and Performance

Standard propulsion on the Canyon 386 is provided by triple Yamaha XTO Offshore 450 engines in classic white. This power package is selected to deliver the performance, reliability and range expected by anglers and offshore cruisers alike. Paired with the Canyon 386’s hull design and wide beam, the propulsion setup supports confident handling and the ability to reach productive fishing grounds quickly.

Versatility and Options

Grady-White’s Canyon 386 is positioned as a versatile center console that accommodates a variety of uses: serious offshore fishing, family outings, and entertaining. The layout’s flexibility—convertible seating, optional grill or bait station, and adjustable table and backrests—lets owners tailor the boat to their priorities without sacrificing key fishing amenities. Storage solutions throughout the vessel, from under-seat drawers to the insulated fish box, emphasize practical onboard organization.

Overall, the Canyon 386 expands Grady-White’s Canyon lineup with a model that leverages a wide beam to create more interior square footage, delivering a center console that answers the needs of anglers who also value comfort and refinement at sea.
