Cobia Reveals New Center-Console Boat

Maverick Boat Co. Cobia 277CC — Versatile Center Console for Family and Fishing

The Maverick Boat Co. developed the Cobia 277CC with a clear mission: deliver big-water performance and practical features in a manageable center console boat. As director of marketing Charlie Johnson explains, “Deliver big-water performance and features in a manageable package.” That balance—between family-friendly comfort and tournament-capable fishing performance—drives every detail of the design.

Cobia 277CC center console boat

The 277CC is designed to be easily converted from a comfortable family dayboat to a serious fishing platform without compromises. It offers seating for up to ten people and includes creature comforts that make long days on the water enjoyable for non-anglers. At the same time, the layout supports serious anglers: a single-level deck and wide-open cockpit maximize usable space for casting and moving around the boat during a fight.

Key practical features include an electronically lowering bow table that powers flush with the deck, and a stern bench that folds down to become level with the raised fishing station. The console and head entry are placed forward, rather than using a side console door, leaving the side decks clear and unobstructed for easy passage along the gunwales. Anglers will also appreciate dual oversized fishboxes equipped with macerators and a dedicated tackle station that features a 42-gallon livewell for keeping bait and catches in top condition.

Hull, Dimensions and Fuel

The Cobia 277CC rides a deep-vee hull tuned for confident handling in offshore conditions. The hull provides 21 degrees of deadrise at the transom, contributing to a smoother ride in chop and better tracking at speed. The boat measures a beam of 9 feet, 8 inches, and draws less than 2 feet with the engines tilted up, which helps when navigating shallow inlets or trailering. Fuel capacity is 189 gallons, giving the boat substantial range for offshore trips and extended days fishing.

Power and Performance

Owners can power the 277CC with a pair of Yamaha engines—options include F150, F200 or F250 models—allowing flexibility based on desired performance and efficiency. With twin Yamaha F200 outboards, and with full fuel and four people aboard, the 277CC averages around 2.3 miles per gallon while cruising between 37 and 42 mph. Top speed with that configuration is about 52 mph. These figures illustrate the balance between comfortable cruising speeds and the reserve power needed for running to productive grounds.

Practical Use and Versatility

The 277CC occupies a practical place within Cobia’s center console line, bridging the gap between the 256CC and the 296CC. It’s equally well-suited to a weekend family cruise, a full day of inshore or nearshore fishing, and participation in tournament events. Storage and fish-handling capacity are emphasized, so anglers can bring the gear they need without crowding the cockpit. Families benefit from comfortable seating and thoughtful amenities that keep everyone relaxed and secure on board.

With the twin Yamaha F200s, the Cobia 277CC is priced at $124,500. Maverick Boat Co. also builds the Pathfinder, Hewes and Maverick brands, and offers a broad lineup of center console models ranging from 20 to 34 feet to match different boating priorities.
