Glacier Bay 2770 Cuddy Cabin: Specs, Features and Pricing

Glacier Bay 2770 Cuddy Power Cat: Updated Comfort on a Proven Hull

Glacier Bay’s 26-foot Canyon Runner established a reputation as a capable offshore vessel, with long-distance passages including a 728-mile run from Virginia Beach to Bermuda and a 1,328-mile voyage from Hawaii to Midway Island. Building on that proven platform, Glacier Bay introduced an updated power cat that preserves the original hull while improving cockpit ergonomics, cabin comfort and weather protection.

The new 2770 Cuddy retains the semidisplacement catamaran hull that delivers a smooth ride and efficient performance, but Glacier Bay focused on enlarging the sheltered living area and refining the layout. “We wanted to make it less modular and introduce a bigger area under the hardtop with more seating space,” says Frank Longino, vice president of marketing for the PowerCat Group, which owns Glacier Bay, World Cat, Livingston Cats and Carolina Cat. The company acquired Glacier Bay in 2008. “The hardtop is 65 percent larger.”

Designers combined the successful cockpit arrangement of the 2740 (introduced in 2010) with an enclosed cuddy cabin to create a versatile pocket cruiser that handles weekend cruising, fishing and coastal passages. The helm sits to starboard beneath the expanded hardtop, while an L-shaped lounge on the port side provides social seating and conceals a 132-quart insulated storage box. An entertainment center immediately aft of the helm incorporates a freshwater sink and an optional refrigerator for extended days on the water.

The cockpit is fitted for practical use: a 20-gallon live well, ample stowage and two in-sole fishboxes—each 100 quarts—with macerator pumps help anglers manage a day of fishing without compromising the boat’s cruising capabilities. Two fold-up transom seats add flexible seating to the aft deck when needed.

Accommodations below are simple but comfortable for a boat of this size. The cuddy includes a queen berth, an electric head and a shower, making the 2770 Cuddy usable for overnight trips and protected cruising in changing weather. The larger hardtop and refined deck layout improve livability and extend usable space compared with earlier models.

Power comes from twin 150-hp four-stroke outboards from Yamaha (Suzuki and Honda are listed as options), matched to the catamaran hull for efficient forward motion and a stable ride. Glacier Bay reports a cruising example with twin Yamaha F150s averaging about 2.3 mpg at a 22 mph cruise. In practice, Longino notes, the boat returns roughly 2 mpg with throttles set from 3,000 to 4,500 rpm, so fuel burn is fairly consistent across practical cruising speeds. At the top end the boat can reach about 40 mph, where economy falls to roughly 1.5 mpg—still reasonable given the higher speed.

With twin 90-gallon polyethylene fuel tanks for a total of 180 gallons, the 2770 Cuddy offers a range in excess of 300 miles under typical cruising conditions, making it a capable pocket cruiser for coastal cruising, weekend escapes and near-offshore passages. The semidisplacement catamaran hull, combined with efficient outboards and a practical layout, makes the design useful for owners who want a blend of offshore capability, fishing amenities and overnight comfort.

Who Should Consider the 2770 Cuddy

The Glacier Bay 2770 Cuddy is aimed at buyers seeking a compact, capable power cat that balances fishing features with weekend cruising comforts. Its protective hardtop, practical cockpit layout and modest cabin make it suitable for anglers who want a dry, sheltered helm and families or couples who want occasional overnight capability without stepping up to a larger yacht. The combination of efficient twin outboards and generous fuel capacity also makes it attractive to owners who value range and predictable fuel consumption for coastal trips.
