Lowrance PSI-1 Adds LiveSight Real‑Time Sonar to HDS Carbon Systems
Tulsa, Okla. – Lowrance, a pioneering brand in fishing electronics since 1957, has introduced the PSI-1 Performance Sonar Interface, a compact module that brings LiveSight real‑time sonar capability to HDS Carbon fishfinder/chartplotters. This upgrade lets anglers visually track lure and fish movement in real time, enhancing both sight‑fishing and traditional sonar workflows.
The PSI-1 module, paired with a compatible LiveSight transducer and an HDS Carbon display, allows anglers to monitor lure presentation and fish behavior with wide coverage and extended reach. LiveSight is well suited for techniques such as drop‑shotting, vertical jigging and close‑range lure tracking in front of the boat. By showing how fish and lures move through the water column, it helps anglers pinpoint locations and assess whether fish are active or merely present.
When the LiveSight transducer is mounted forward on a trolling motor, anglers can cast into the sonar beam and watch a live image of their lure and nearby fish, turning many casts into a sight‑fishing opportunity. This forward view makes it easier to see reaction strikes and subtle interest that traditional sonar can miss.
Mounted downward on a trolling motor or transom, LiveSight provides both a live real‑time view and a conventional sonar perspective. Combining Lowrance’s trusted CHIRP sonar with DownScan and SideScan imaging alongside LiveSight’s moving‑target imagery creates a comprehensive picture of what’s happening beneath and around the boat, especially when fish are holding near structure.
Adding the PSI-1 and LiveSight transducer to an HDS Carbon network equipped with Active Imaging transforms a boat’s electronics into a complete, integrated fishing system. Users retain industry‑leading CHIRP sonar and high‑definition DownScan and SideScan imaging while gaining the benefit of real‑time sonar visuals that can be shared across the onboard network for multiple displays.
Installation is straightforward: HDS Carbon displays require the compact PSI-1 module to enable LiveSight transducer compatibility. The PSI-1 connects directly to the display through the sonar port and an Ethernet connection. That Ethernet connection can be extended to the boat’s network so real‑time sonar feeds are available to additional displays on board, simplifying multi‑station use.
To support the new module, Lowrance released software update 19.1 for HDS LIVE and HDS Carbon. This free update is required for PSI-1 compatibility with HDS LIVE and also brings performance improvements across platforms, including faster refresh rates, enhanced noise rejection and increased target sensitivity—improvements that benefit both traditional sonar and LiveSight operation.
“We are pleased to bring the benefits of LiveSight Sonar to HDS Carbon users around the world,” said Knut Frostad, CEO of Navico. “The launch of the PSI-1 Performance Sonar Interface offers proof of our commitment to the long‑term support of our customers.”
This addition gives anglers more tools to interpret underwater behavior in real time, improving decision making on the water without replacing the trusted imaging and sonar technologies they already rely on. The PSI-1 and LiveSight transducer expand an HDS Carbon system’s versatility, making it easier to adapt to a wide range of fishing situations.
The PSI-1 and compatible LiveSight transducers are available through Lowrance dealers and authorized retailers. Anglers looking to upgrade their electronics network should confirm compatibility with their existing HDS Carbon or HDS LIVE units and consider installing the latest 19.1 software update before integrating the new module.
