Yamaha Unveils New F350 V6 Outboard Motor

Yamaha Introduces New V6 Offshore F350 350-hp Outboard

Yamaha Marine has announced a new addition to its outboard lineup: the F350, a 350-horsepower 4.3-liter V6 designed to replace the previous V8 F350. The new V6 Offshore F350 is aimed at boaters and boatbuilders who need a high-power, lighter-weight outboard option that fits between Yamaha’s existing F300 and the XTO Offshore 425 in the product range.

A modern replacement for the older V8

The new F350 replaces the earlier 5.3-liter V8 F350, which was introduced in 2007 and discontinued in 2019. While the V8 model had a strong following, it also faced criticism over its power-to-weight ratio and some units experienced flywheel-related problems. Yamaha’s new V6 architecture addresses those concerns by delivering comparable power in a lighter, more compact package.

Weighing in at 629 pounds, the V6 F350 improves Yamaha’s power-to-weight position in the 350-hp class by more than 60 pounds compared with competitors, and it is 175 pounds lighter than the previous V8 F350. According to Ben Speciale, President of Yamaha U.S. Marine Business Unit, “Boaters asked for it, and we delivered. The F350 is the perfect big power, light-weight option for a wide variety of applications.”

Design and feature highlights

Yamaha carried over several proven technologies from its larger XTO engines while adding new elements tailored to the V6 platform. Notable updates include a new cowling with a vent port to improve cooling airflow, extended fuel injection duration for optimized combustion, and a redesigned crankshaft intended to enhance torque delivery. A new gearcase design rounds out the mechanical updates, helping the engine perform efficiently across the operating range.

In addition to mechanical improvements, Yamaha added a safety-oriented flashing light mounted on the rear of the motor to indicate propeller engagement to those behind the vessel—an example of practical, user-focused innovation aimed at improving awareness and safety on the water.

Options, colors and compatibility

The F350 will be offered with 25-, 30- and 35-inch shaft lengths to suit a broad array of boat transom heights and hull types. The outboard’s charging system supplies 70 amps of alternator output, supporting modern onboard electronics and accessories. Color options include Pearlescent White, Traditional Gray and a new Classic White finish, giving boat builders and owners tasteful choices to match a boat’s aesthetic.

Other Yamaha product updates

Alongside the new F350, Yamaha announced enhancements across its marine product line. These include added functionality and refined controls for the next-generation Helm Master EX system, an updated side-mount digital electronic control with a refreshed appearance, and a 704 mechanical control box that introduces a neutral lock feature for added safety and convenience. Yamaha also unveiled new propeller pitch options to improve performance tuning for different boat and load conditions.

What this means for boaters and builders

The new V6 Offshore F350 fills an important gap in Yamaha’s lineup by providing a true 350-hp option that balances high output with lower weight. For boatbuilders, that weight reduction can translate into design flexibility, improved performance, and better fuel economy potential in many applications. For owners and operators, the combination of modern engine management, increased torque characteristics, improved cooling and practical safety features make the F350 a competitive choice for center consoles, sportboats and other craft suited to a 350-horsepower outboard.
