The Beneteau Swift Trawler 48, which premiered at the 2022 Miami International Boat Show, represents the largest model in Beneteau’s Swift Trawler lineup at 48 feet, 4 inches overall length. Designed for long-range cruising and comfortable liveaboard capability, the Swift Trawler 48 blends efficient hull design, practical deck layout and well-appointed interior spaces to suit extended passages and coastal cruising alike.

Underway performance is delivered by a standard twin-engine package of Cummins QSB 6.7-liter diesels, each rated at 380 horsepower. That configuration provides a top speed of approximately 21 knots and, combined with the generous 510-gallon fuel capacity, yields a long cruising range: well over 600 nautical miles at an economical 9-knot cruise and about 280 nautical miles at 18 knots. Owners who want higher top speed can opt for the available 425-hp engine package, which raises the top speed toward the mid-20-knot range.

Interior arrangements emphasize practical, comfortable living spaces. The main-deck galley sits to port in an L-shaped configuration and features a full-height refrigerator with freezer capacity, generous overhead lockers and abundant drawer and cupboard storage. The standard fit includes a gas oven, with a multifunction electric oven available as an option; there is also room for an optional dishwasher. A Corian countertop houses either a gas or induction cooktop alongside a large sink, while a “magic corner” pull-out storage system improves access to lower cupboards. Opposite the galley, a dedicated sideboard adds extra storage and an interior bottle rack, making meal service and provisioning easier for extended trips.

The main salon includes a starboard-side helm and a C-shaped settee that converts to a double berth, providing flexible sleeping options for guests. Full walkaround deck access and high bulwarks enhance underway safety and make moving around the boat straightforward; the starboard side deck is noticeably wider than the port side, and a sliding door beside the lower helm offers quick access to the side deck for docking and anchoring tasks.

Below decks, the Swift Trawler 48 offers three staterooms and two heads, laid out for comfortable family cruising or accommodating guests. The forward master cabin features a double berth with access from either side, and both headroom and berth length measure approximately 6 feet, 6 inches—ample for most owners. The master benefits from extensive storage including overhead lockers and wardrobes. Large hull windows with integrated portlights, together with an overhead hatch, provide abundant natural light and cross-ventilation throughout the cabin.

The aft cockpit is designed for socializing and ease of use, with a large transverse bench seat that can accommodate a table and two folding chairs for al fresco dining. A double gate in the transom opens onto an expansive swim platform; an optional hydraulic lifting system can lift and stow a tender rated up to 770 pounds, simplifying tender launch and recovery. On the foredeck, an optional sunpad gives owners the flexibility to convert that area into forward seating as needed, creating additional lounging space when at anchor.

Up above, the flybridge is laid out for both piloting and entertaining. Multiple forward-facing seats are arranged around the helm, and table seating provides a comfortable social area. Owners can choose an optional flybridge T-top with an inset sliding soft-top for added protection from sun and weather. Aft on the flybridge, a wet bar and dedicated storage space accommodate sun loungers, paddleboards and other water accessories, making the bridge a versatile platform for days on the water.

Soundings will be conducting a full sea trial of the Beneteau Swift Trawler 48 in an upcoming issue, providing a detailed assessment of handling, systems and onboard comfort during extended cruising conditions.
